This articulated suite of programs offers STEM professionals a chance to broaden their knowledge in complementary disciplines and integrate them into their careers. The flexible degree programs are delivered primarily online with some courses delivered through blended, face-to-face or intensive delivery modes.

 

How to structure your degree

These programs are designed to be taken at a pace that suits you. Take one or two courses per term and, if you need a break in your studies, simply apply for program leave if you aren’t enrolling in any courses for a given term.

Graduate certificate

Take three compulsory courses:

  • SCIF7000 Advanced Communication Skills in Science (take this first)
  • SCIF7010 Leading Science for Impact
  • SCIF7020 Critical Thinking in Scientific Practice

and choose one elective course from the list of prescribed electives.

Graduate diploma

Take the above three compulsory courses and choose five elective courses from the list of prescribed electives in the online Handbook.

Master

In addition to the above three compulsory courses, you will choose seven elective courses. You’ll then complete your degree with a capstone work-integrated project course, taken over two consecutive terms. For more information, visit the online Handbook.

Choosing your electives

Electives can broaden your knowledge in specialised STEM topics or enhance your science leadership skills. Tailor your program to suit your needs.

Not all electives are offered every term and some aren’t running every year. Use the Handbook to check the term offerings and plan ahead.

Articulation

You can progress from the Graduate certificate to the Diploma or Master program or opt to exit early and graduate with the lower qualification. For either option, simply apply for a postgraduate internal program transfer before the end of term.
