UNSW Graduate Diploma in Flying is a one-year, full-time program designed to meet the needs of graduates who wish to pursue a career as a professional pilot. 

This program may be taken concurrently with the Bachelor of Aviation Management. It encompasses academic study of the underpinning theory, delivered via four flying operations courses. You'll learn the interdisciplinary technical knowledge required to operate an aeroplane successfully.

This program covers the necessary training and assessment for a Commercial Pilot Licence. However, it does not include Instructor Ratings or the Multi Crew Coordination course. 

Hands-on Learning & Training 

Classes and training take place at the Flight Operations Unit at Bankstown airport. They consist of ground as well as airborne training and assessment. 

UNSW Graduate Diploma in Flying students may also apply to become a QantasLink Approved Student. They receive mentoring throughout their training by QantasLink personnel, a fast-track to consideration for employment.

Eligibility & Pre-requisites 

This program is only available to: 

  • Australian citizens 
  • Australian permanent residents 
  • New Zealand citizens 
  • A flight screening course is a prerequisite. 

You must also complete the first year of Bachelor of Aviation (Flying or Management) to be eligible for this program.
