David Forsyth AM
David has over 45 years working in the aviation industry, joining Qantas as an engineering cadet in 1970. He worked as a professional engineer before moving into management, where he headed a number of Engineering Divisions. In 1997 he became the General Manager Regional Airlines and in 1999 Executive General Manager Aircraft Operations, responsible for all Flight Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance.
Since leaving Qantas in 2003, David has worked as an independent consultant and has served on a number of Boards, including as Chairman of Airservices Australia, Chairman of Safeskies Conferences, Vice President of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (SE Section), Aviation Australia and President of the Royal Aeronautical Society Australian Division. In 2014, David was Chair of the Aviation Safety Regulation Review panel appointed by the Deputy Prime Minister. He is currently Chairman of the Industry Advisory Panel and an Adjunct Professor at the UNSW School of Aviation.
David has a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering degree (honours) from the University of NSW, a Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (UNSW) and has completed the Stanford University Executive Program in the USA. In 2013, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to the aviation industry through a range of administrative and leadership roles.
