Mathematics - Masters Degree (Coursework)
The program is intended for students who have completed a Mathematics or Statistics degree in a Science and/or Mathematics program, or a degree in a related area, and who wish to further their knowledge of mathematical sciences.
The Master of Mathematics program offers intensive, high level training in principles of mathematical sciences. In particular, the program will develop students' research and analytic skills, and substantially broaden the knowledge gained from prior studies.
This program will equip you with a range of skills demanded by today's employers, and will provide a means of obtaining necessary preparation for further research in Mathematics.
Assumed & recommended knowledge
A Bachelor of Mathematics or a Bachelor of Science with a major in mathematics or statistics, and sufficient mathematical/statistical background and an average above 65 in relevant level III year university courses.
It is expected that successful applicants should have taken real analysis, partial differential equations, numerical methods, probability and stochastic processes and algebra. A formal application must be made using by applying online. Prospective international students should note that they will need to meet the University's English language requirements. Honours graduates in Mathematics or Statistics may receive advanced standing: this should be discussed with the Postgraduate Director.
