Statisticians collect, analyse and interpret quantitative data.

Statisticians design and apply statistical techniques for creating, collecting and analysing data to draw conclusions, inform decision-making and direct policy within areas such as science, technology, medicine, education, business, finance and government.

A statistician gathers numerical data and then displays it, helping companies to make sense of quantitative data and to spot trends and make predictions.

A degree in a numerate discipline such as statistics, economics or mathematics is normally required, although qualifications in operational research, medical/life sciences and business studies are also acceptable.
