Registrations for the 2011 Science Experience at UNSW are now open for year 9 and 10 students. Places are limited so register early online at the Science Experience website. Take this opportunity to get a taste of life as a university student and to meet and share ideas with students from different schools with similar interests in science and engineering.
An exciting smorgasbord of activities will be included this year, presented by scientists who are experts in their fields. There are lectures, lab experiments, incursions, excursions, hands-on experience and other fun-filled activities in the different disciplines of science and engineering. The Faculty of Science welcomes all students to UNSW and especially those who will be travelling from country schools.

| 3. | How do I get to the University of New South Wales? |
From Central Station Eddy Avenue Bus Stop: take Bus 891. This is UNSW Express and stops at Gates 2, 8 & 9 on High Street. Your stop is Gate 2. Please note this service is pre-paid only and no tickets are sold on the bus. There are other buses that stop near the main entrance to the University on Anzac Parade. Check the Sydney Buses website and the 131500 website for more timetable information. If driving, check directions to our campus from your suburb. The campus map shows the entry points to the assembly area (Physics Lawn) for each day of the event: Kensington TSE map.pdf. |
| 4. | What time do I arrive and leave each day? | ||||||||
The times are as follows:
| 5. | What if I arrive late? |
If you arrive late on any day, please stay at the designated area and call the mobile number supplied to you and you will be collected and taken to your scheduled session for that time. (Mobile number to be supplied to registered students prior to the event). |
| 6. | What if I need to leave early? |
A roll-call is taken each day before we start any activity. We need to know where you are at all times as you are our responsibility while you are on campus. If you need to leave early speak to your group leader on the morning you need to leave. You should also bring a note from your parent or guardian and hand over to your group leader. NOTE: Students are not permitted to leave the campus grounds at any time and especially during lunch breaks. |
| 7. | What should I wear? |
As you will spend some time in laboratories, it is important that you wear suitable clothing - preferably a long-sleeved cotton shirt, jeans and closed-toed shoes. Check your copy of the timetable and dress accordingly - dress for comfort. Pack a cardigan, jacket or jumper just in case the day suddenly turns cold. |
| 8. | What should I bring? |
When you arrive on the first day, you will be given a program satchel with relevant information for the event. All queries regarding the program should be directed to your team leader. |
| 9. | Lunch |
Please bring your lunch each day. There are food outlets on campus but it can prove very time-consuming and expensive. Fruit and water will be provided on all three days. |
| 10. | What do I do if I get lost on campus? |
If you somehow find you are lost on campus, you should call us on the mobile number (to be supplied prior to event). On the first day team leaders will also provide you with contact numbers to use in an emergency. Keep this with you at all times. You can also ask for directions to the building where you are supposed to be. There are information maps all over the campus and uniformed security on patrol all through the day. |
