Science (Geography) / Arts (German and Linguistics)
I am currently studying a combined Science and Arts degree which has also given me the opportunity to study in Freiburg, Germany during 2007/2008.
The Science programs at UNSW are very flexible, which was perfect for me because I knew I loved studying Science but didn't know at first what I wanted to concentrate on. This allowed me to study a few different subjects in first year and then decide what I really wanted to do. This also means that I can study interesting electives related to my major: Atmospheric Physics and Oceanography.
Getting to know my fellow students and teachers has been one of the highlights of studying at UNSW. Even though UNSW is so big, it's not an impersonal place at all, and I'm guaranteed to run into people I know when I'm walking between classes, or standing in the coffee line, or studying in the library.
I've really enjoyed doing a double degree because it catered to both my interests in Geography and Language, and definitely kept me from getting bored (there's never a quiet moment when you study Coastal Geomorphology, Psycholinguisti

Going to university seemed like the logical next move after finishing school and a step toward opening up the door to a solid career path. Someone once told me that many things come and go but your education can never be taken from you. I decided to study what interested me rather than pleasing others, and UNSW offered courses that really grabbed my attention. UNSW also offered the best facilities and had a great reputation. The fact that Coogee Beach is just down the road didn't hinder my choice either!
Studying as part of a short-term exchange program in Singapore has been one of the course highlights for me, as have many of the field trips I've conducted as part of my degree. The friendships I've made with my classmates have also contributed to one of the best aspects of my degree. High school learning and university learning are completely different - at university it's all up to you. I know it's a cliché, but what you put into your study is what you get out.
Studying Science has also challenged me in terms of developing my skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving and time management - all skills that can be applied in the ‘real world'. The flexibility of my Science degree was a huge plus - it allowed me to explore areas outside of my major.

I thought UNSW was great from the moment I set foot on the campus from the main drag coming off Anzac Parade. The buildings were shiny and the lawns green. Being an international student I had never seen a proper campus before and I was immediately impressed. Five years later I am coming to the end of my studies at UNSW, the university that has opened the doors to the big scary world.
I started out as a Commerce student but discovered quickly that pure business was not what I wanted to do. For an additional year at uni I could enrol in a combined Commerce/ Science program allowing me to continue studying finance, but also adding psychology for my own interest. Most people thought it was an odd thing to study finance and psychology combined, but I realise now more than ever that I could not have chosen a better combination. The finance part of my degree has given me the business edge whereas psychology has allowed me to develop my research and critical analysis skills. The combination of the two has helped me grow confident in my academic abilities and also interpersonal skills.
When I step through those doors I can choose to follow one of many paths. I am a convert to Science, a lover of Psychology, and extremely business minded.
