Materials Science & Engineering The School of Materials Science and Engineering is one of Australia's premier academic contributors in the field with a strong international reputation. Psychology The School of Psychology at UNSW is located in the Faculty of Science and has approximately 30 academic staff, 1600 undergraduate students and 150 postgraduate students. We offer a broad range of undergraduate courses in the major areas of psychology that not only communicate contemporary knowledge but also train general skills in research design, critical thinking, statistical analysis and written and oral communication. Our postgraduate programs in clinical, organisational and forensic psychology provide intensive professional training, and our PhD program offers the opportunity for advanced study in a range of specialised research fields. Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences The University of New South Wales has a national and international reputation for quality education and research in many fields of biological, geographical and geological sciences. The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) incorporates these environmentally relevant disciplines enabling the School to offer a comprehensive education in the traditional, mainstream disciplines of Biology, Geography and Geology. Mathematics & Statistics The School of Mathematics and Statistics has more than 60 academic staff, including many research and postdoctoral fellows. The School consists of three departments: Applied Mathematics (including the Climate and Environmental Dynamics Laboratory), Pure Mathematics and Statistics. Our research presence includes many seminars and visiting academics, and we teach approximately 2,500 students annually. Biotechnology & Biomolecular Sciences The School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at UNSW is among the largest and most prestigious schools of scientific research and teaching in Australia. With distinguished academic staff, an innovative teaching program and state-of-the-art facilities, BABS is producing graduates and scientific discoveries of international renown. Chemistry The School of Chemistry at UNSW is one of the leading centres of research and teaching in Chemistry in Australia. We teach about 2000 undergraduate students each year, with research undertaken by approximately 80 PhD students and 10 postdoctoral research workers. The school contributes to degree programs across several faculties at UNSW. Our new undergraduate teaching laboratories are the most advanced teaching laboratories in Australia. Physics We take pride in being one of the leading Physics departments in Australia, in the quality and breadth of research programs, in the stature of our academic staff, in the strength and vitality of our teaching programs, and in our community outreach activities. Physics can be combined with many of the undergraduate courses available at UNSW. Double degrees are a popular choice (allowing a science major to be combined with one in another faculty, for example Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering or Law).
