UNSW is recognised for the excellence of its Higher Degree Research and for its Honours programs. PhD students consistently graduate on time and continue into successful careers in research, industry and government.

In 2012 the Faculty had a cohort of 720 postgraduate research students (36% international), of whom 643 are studying at PhD level.
