Science Staff Fellowships

 

The Dean's Carers Fellowship

Closing Date: 14th October 2013

This Fellowship is offered to researchers in the Faculty of Science whose careers have been interrupted through sustained full time carer status for at least 6 months.

This can include childcare, maternity leave/parental leave, disability care of another, care of parent or spouse. The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide eligible staff with relief from teaching and administration to write publications, grant applications and/or to provide access to research assistance.

Each year up to $25,000 per applicant (pro rata for fractional staff) will be awarded. More than one Fellowship may be awarded each year. Male staff members are encouraged to apply.

June Griffith Fellowship for Academic Women in Leadership

The June Griffith Fellowship for Academic Women in Leadership is named after Dr June Clare Griffith, the first woman graduate at UNSW in 1955.  She took her undergraduate and Masters studies in Chemistry at UNSW and became Director of First-Year Teaching in Chemistry in 1968.  June was a legendary and inspirational teacher and mentor to her students. 

The June Griffith Fellowship is designed to provide opportunities for women at Levels B and C to develop and strengthen their research and provide teaching relief, preparing them for promotion to Levels C and D Levels in the near future. This Fellowship is to assist both continuing and fixed-term research fellow staff at both full-time and fractional appointments.

Each year up to $50,000 per Fellow will be awarded, at $25,000 per semester. More than one Fellowship may be awarded each year. The applicant should propose the split between teaching relief and research support in their application.
