New academic staff
Welcome! As a new member of academic staff within our Faculty there are a number of resources, support and training programs available to assist you in your new role. We encourage you participate in Faculty led and UNSW wide teaching events, courses and programs organised throughout the year.

All new academic members of staff are required to complete the UNSW Foundations of Learning and Teaching course run by the UNSW Learning & Teaching Unit within the first two years of their appointment at UNSW.
It is also recommended that all new Science academic staff with teaching responsibilities attend the Faculty of Science Course Coordinators workshop run annually. This workshop will be offered next on Thursday 21st February 2013. To register please email email@example.com
The Faculty also offers a four part workshop series for new laboratory demonstrators and tutors which will be offered next in S1 in 2013.

If you are new to teaching at UNSW you might not be aware of a number of important dates relating to teaching and setting up your courses.
For example if you are creating a new course you may need to start the paperwork for a new course approval long before you are actually offering the course. This is due the fact that all courses need to be centrally timetabled across the university and this is usually completed a week or two before the preceding semester!
