Level Up is a program to support Level C academics through the promotion process. The program utilises a cohort model, whereby staff planning to apply for promotion can network with one another, receive formal guidance on promotion procedures and best practice, and gain access to mentorship with regard to building a strong case for promotion. Two key features of the program are: to instigate the planning and preparation process early and to provide program participants with content that is catered to the Faculty of Science.
The current focus of the program is for Level C academics planning to apply for promotion to Level D in 2019 or 2020. Level Up is open to people of all genders. In light of the UNSW Strategy 2025 target of 40% women in senior academic roles by 2025, the Faculty of Science aims to increase the number and proportion of academic women at Level C applying for promotion. As such, female academics are encouraged to take part in Level Up.
The program will consist of:
- A ‘making your case’ workshop
- Regular cohort meet-ups (arrangements facilitated by EDI Officer)
- An application evaluation panel event
- End-of-year celebration
- Interview information workshop
- Mock interviews
The program commenced in September 2018.
