Applied Geology involves a more specific interest in the application of earth science for the benefit of human civilisation.

Applied Geology includes, for example, surveying metallic ore deposits, fossil fuels and groundwater resources, and applying geological knowledge in a range of engineering and environmental contexts.

The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences Masters by Research program requires a minimum of three academic sessions of full-time study and preparation of a written thesis.

Once completed, the thesis is examined by members of the Australian and international scientific academic community.
