Entry Requirements

Admission to UNSW Science degrees is based on academic merit. Whether you are a school leaver or older, you must be able to provide evidence that you have the potential for tertiary study.
 


High School Leavers

There are no pre-requisites for our undergraduate degree programs – entry is based on academic merit (ATAR or equivalent). Make sure you find out whether you are eligible for bonus points on your ATAR.

However, many programs have assumed knowledge and we encourage you to prepare yourself as best you can for studies at UNSW, which may involve completion of a Bridging Course.

Alternative Entry

Even if you don’t have the right ATAR (or no ATAR at all), there are still many options for non-high school leavers to gain entry to UNSW, including the following programs:

Local students

Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens are required to apply via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

International Students

If you do not have Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or full Permanent Residence status in Australia, then you are considered an international student. Visit UNSW International for all the information you need.
