Where:

Old Main Building, Physics Common Room, (RM64)

Hosts:

School of Physics

Type of event:

Seminar

Presenter: Prof. Hans Feldmeier

Institution: GSI Helmholtz Center, Darmstadt, Germany

Abstract:

Nuclear structure theory based on ab initio ideas is presented.

Applications to the structure of the Hoyle state in 12C (triple alpha fusion), S-factor calculations within many-body scattering theory for 3He + alpha -> 7Be + gamma, and structure of 229Th for testing variations of natural constants are presented.
