UNSW Science supports Science students to connect with Industry via our U&I (University & Industry) program which encompasses mentoring, internship and other engagement to meet our goal of giving every Science student the opportunity to connect directly with an industry contact!
The U&I program consists of:
The Science Meets Industry events are designed to introduce our students to representatives from reputable organisations, with an aim to form promising networking relationships and provide students with valuable internship and paid work experience opportunities.
U&I Industry Mentor Program
Selected students are given the opportunity to pair up with an industry mentor for 3 months to access career advice, practical job interviewing skills and resume reviewing opportunities, not to mention the opportunity to network with an organisation in a compatible scientific field. Mentors stand to gain great opportunities to meet prospective employees for their organisation and a chance to develop mentoring and coaching skills.
The Science Work Placement course has been developed for students who find a work placement / internship either unpaid or paid and would like to receive academic credit for the placement. For this course you can receive 6 Units of Credit (UoC).
Forums and skills building opportunities
We regularly host recruitment specialists from government, private and university sectors for students to learn how to develop the skills desired by industry.
